Love in Action: 36 Students Receive Free Dental Care at Kairos Academies

Today, 36 Kairos students are receiving free, on-site dental care–and that number represents so much more than appointments on a calendar.
It represents access.
It represents trust.
It represents love in action.
This milestone was made possible through the leadership and persistence of our incredible school nurse, Heather, and our partnership with Gateway to Oral Health. Because of their collaboration, dozens of students are getting the preventive dental care they need without families having to miss work, arrange transportation, or navigate complicated systems.
If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of a call or message from Nurse Heather, you know: she does not stop at “good enough.” She works tirelessly behind the scenes to keep health records compliant, coordinate care, follow up with families, and track down resources that remove barriers for our students. She makes sure families understand their options. She ensures paperwork is completed. She follows through.
At Kairos, we talk often about our core value of Love–showing deep care, high expectations, and commitment to one another’s well-being. Nurse Heather embodies that value every single day.
But this story is about more than one person. It’s about what’s possible when a school is intentionally designed to know students well.
Because we are a small, relationship-driven community, we notice when something might stand in the way of a student thriving. We’re able to respond quickly. We’re able to personalize support. We’re able to bring resources directly into the school experience–whether that’s tutoring, vision screenings, free meals at school, or even a convenient dental visit.
Personalized attention isn’t just about academics.
It’s about the whole child.
When students are healthy, they can focus. When families feel supported, they can breathe a little easier. When schools act as connectors, opportunity expands.
Kairos means “spirit of opportunity.” Moments like this–36 students receiving convenient care–are exactly what that spirit looks like in action. It’s a reminder that reimagining education isn’t only about what happens in classrooms. It’s about building a community where every student has what they need to succeed.
We are incredibly grateful to Nurse Heather and to Gateway to Oral Health for helping us live out our values with excellence.
