A Thousand Intentional Decisions: Meet the Team Behind the Experience

As a parent, the first day of school comes with a mix of emotions.

You hope your child walks into a classroom where they're welcomed. You hope they're challenged by teachers who believe in them. You hope they'll make friends, feel like they belong, and come home excited about what they learned.

Those moments don't happen by chance.

They're the result of a thousand intentional decisions made by educators who believe every student deserves a school where they’re known deeply, challenged daily, and inspired to dream boldly.

That's exactly what our leadership team is working to build every day at Kairos.

This year marks an exciting new chapter as Nick Guadiana steps into the role of Principal for both our middle and high schools, creating one unified vision for the entire Kairos community.

After serving Kairos over the past five years as a math teacher, department chair, instructional leader, Principal in Residence, and Middle School Principal, Nick brings a deep understanding of both our students and our mission. A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Missouri–St. Louis, he believes schools should be places that empower students to build lives filled with opportunity and choice.

"Our goal," Nick says, "is to create a seamless, responsive, and consistent experience across every grade level."

That consistency starts in the classroom—but it reaches far beyond it.

Every student deserves to feel like they belong.

Assistant Principal of Student Experience Morquiese Evans works to ensure students find meaningful relationships, engaging activities, strong mentoring, and opportunities to grow outside of class. With degrees in Psychology and School Counseling, Morquiese believes students thrive when they know they have adults who genuinely care about them.

Alongside him, Assistant Principal of Culture A'Maya Wiley leads the work of creating a positive, safe, and restorative school community. Drawing on her background in education and social work, she partners closely with families, students, and staff to build a culture rooted in trust, accountability, and belonging.

Together, they help make Kairos a place where students are excited to come to school—not just because of what they'll learn, but because of the people they'll learn alongside.

Of course, belonging is only one piece of the puzzle.

At Kairos, we believe students rise to high expectations when they're surrounded by adults who believe in them.

Assistant Principal of Humanities Instruction Tyler Jones helps teachers bring reading, writing, history, and critical thinking to life every day. After beginning his career through Teach For America, Tyler discovered that helping young people grow was far more meaningful than the corporate career he once imagined.

Assistant Principal of STEM Instruction Jason Kennedy brings a different path—but the same passion. After years building businesses and traveling, Jason returned to the calling he'd always known was waiting for him: education. Today, he coaches math and science teachers while helping students develop the knowledge and confidence they'll need to solve tomorrow's challenges.

Together, Tyler and Jason support teachers across every classroom, helping ensure students are challenged, engaged, and growing every single day.

And while our team is focused on helping students succeed today, they're always thinking about tomorrow.

Assistant Principal of College and Career Readiness Darius Washington works with students to prepare for life after graduation. From meeting graduation requirements to exploring college, careers, and future opportunities, Darius helps students see that their possibilities extend far beyond what they may have imagined for themselves.

Inspired by the mentors who helped shape his own life, he hopes every student leaves Kairos believing they can pursue not just what seems possible—but what they truly want for their future.

Although each member of our leadership team has a different role, they are united by a common belief: students achieve their best when high expectations are matched with unwavering support.

This school year, families can expect leaders who are visible in classrooms, present at school events, available for conversations, and committed to partnering with you every step of the way.

We're excited to welcome your family back and can't wait to see everything our students accomplish this year. Here's to a school year filled with meaningful relationships, consistent support, academic growth, and countless moments that remind every student just how much they're capable of.

Your student's mentor is your first point of contact. Mentors know your child best and can often answer questions, provide updates, or connect you with the right team member.

Step 2: Reach out to your student's Teacher

Questions about grades, assignments, classroom expectations, or academic progress should go directly to the appropriate classroom teacher.
