ext 208
Carla Leggett leads student support services at Kairos, ensuring that every student with an IEP, 504 plan, or English language support receives what they need to thrive. She also serves as the Foster Care Liaison and McKinney-Vento Coordinator, partnering with families experiencing transitions, housing insecurity, or foster placement to remove barriers and keep students connected to school. Carla oversees compliance with state and federal laws, coaches staff, advocates for families, and builds systems that honor student dignity and agency. Entering her first year at Kairos with 25 years of experience in education, she is especially focused this year on strengthening the MTSS framework for 5th–12th graders and supporting her team in becoming confident, equity-centered leaders.
Carla earned a B.S. in Education from Harris-Stowe State University, an MBA, and an Ed.S. in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University. She identifies most with the Kairos value of agency, helping students gain the tools, access, and voice to make decisions about their own learning and lives. Over her career, she has built and led student support systems, trained staff in trauma-informed practices, and partnered directly with families to ensure equitable access to services. Outside of school, Carla is a published author working on several books, enjoys live music and great food, and runs her own company creating leadership tools and content for emerging leaders.
