Kairos Academies Charter Renewed for Another Five Years

January 17, 2024 | Dr. Khalil Graham

In a momentous decision, the Missouri Charter Public School Commission (MCPSC) voted unanimously to renew Kairos Academies' charter for an additional five years. This marks an exceptionally proud day for the Kairos community and underscores our commitment to transforming education.

At the core of Kairos Academies' philosophy is a belief in nurturing the unique qualities of every individual student. Learning should be joyful, exciting, and meaningful. We reject conventional approaches that treat students as test scores on a page. Instead, we embrace diversity, personalization, one-on-one mentoring, and project-based learning. At Kairos, students are empowered to direct their own lives and learning as they discover and embrace their unique skills and interests.

This renewal is an affirmation of what our students, families, and educators already know to be true: Kairos is a transformative force in education that is fueling powerful student growth and agency.

Of course we would not be here without the unwavering commitment of the students, parents and educators who have contributed to making Kairos a beacon of innovation. Our pioneering class of sixth graders joined us in 2019 and have since grown with us through a global pandemic–completing middle school and launching our high school program.

"I've been going [to Kairos] for five years already, and I just see a lot of progress in the school. I see all of the new students that are here, and I'm just really excited to watch the school grow and watch me grow with it." –Mirasol, 10th Grade Student
“I'm proud of the leadership we have at [Kairos], and I'm just proud of everything and everybody that has put their all into the school and to make it what it is today.” –James, 10th Grade Student

As we celebrate this significant achievement, it is important to reflect on the remarkable milestones Kairos has achieved in five short years. From being a 2022 winner of Saint Louis University's PRiME Growth Award to ranking #3 on U.S. News & World Report’s list of Missouri’s best charter middle schools in 2023, Kairos has demonstrated the transformative value of personalization on student growth and success.

We look forward to the next five years with anticipation, confident that Kairos Academies will continue to thrive and make a lasting impact on the lives of our students and our community. This renewal is not just a validation of past accomplishments but an endorsement of Kairos’ efforts to re-imagine education for the 21st century.

Congratulations to the entire Kairos community on this achievement. Thank you for your continued dedication and commitment to excellence in education!
